How are you feeling today? I get the sense that a lot of people may often feel like I sometimes do, viz. they are not exactly sad but maybe just a little bit lost, lethargic or even down perhaps. They may be ‘stuck in a rut’ within the confines of their home. They cannot travel more than 5 km. They cannot work. They are irritated by family members (cabin fever). So much of the world has been turned upside down of late and things can sometimes appear to spiral out of control. I mean, I know that we will always have change, but this past 12 months has taken the word change to another level entirely.
So how do I cope? Well, there are three things that really keep me going:
- My religion – this is the one rock that has always been there for me and has helped me in both happy and sad times. Now don’t scoff, it works.
- My charity work – it really is so true that you gain much inward happiness and a sense of self-fulfilment when you contribute to worthy charitable causes. This is even more so when you give of your time, which is your most valuable gift.
- My online work / hobby / passion. Now this can be a bit of a rabbit hole, ha ha and so much time can be wasted online. However, if you put your time to good use – such as earning an income online while working around a hobby that you truly love – this can be so very rewarding.
Hopefully one of the above may give you food for thought. They really work for me. I’d be happy to engage with anybody who reads this and would like to engage further. Each topic needs some filling out and I am happy to share my experience. Please feel free to drop me a line on martin@martinhodgins.com.

Let’s enjoy an online coffee. Go on, I don’t bite.
Have a good one,
Martin.
